Teton Village is 12 miles northwest of Jackson Hole Wyoming at the foot of the Teton Mountain Range. Teton Village is the home of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, the largest and most popular ski area in Wyoming and the Western United States. Boasting more than 4,000-vertical feet of varied terrain at the Jackson Hole Ski Area, this resort attracts expert and beginner skiers and snowboarders alike from around the world. With an average annual snowfall of 450 inches, the powder at Jackson Hole Ski Resort in Teton Village is usually deep with minimal lift lines-except for the busy holidays. First opened in 1965, this Wyoming ski resort has slowly become one of the most renowned ski areas in the nation.
With more than 2,500 acres of terrain spread over two adjacent mountains, the resort boasts runs that exceed four miles and offers 24 miles of groomed trails. The only way to the summit of 10,450-foot Rendezvous Mountain is aboard one of two 63-passenger Aerial Tram cars. With an elevation of 10,600 feet, Rendezvous Mountain offers exciting skiing on many intermediate and beginner slopes. In addition, you can ride a gondola, three quad chairs, a triple chair, and other double lifts. Jackson Hole Mountian Resort also features a half-pipe with terrain park and Kids Ranch, which provides supervised day care.
On-the-mountain dining choices include Casper Restaurant at the bottom of Casper Bowl and Corbets Cabin, which offers snacks at the top of the Tram. When the weather permits, the Thunder Shack, located at the base of the Thunder Chair, also has drinks and snacks. The Teton Village Resort area can be viewed from the decks of the restaurants, which also feature sweeping valley and full Teton mountain views.
In the summer, Teton Village transforms into a mountain bikers, hikers and sightseers paradise, with the Aerial Tram remaining in service to transport outdoor enthusiasts to the top of Rendezvous Mountain Peak. This is a great starting point for overnight backpacking trips into the Grand Teton National Park. With more than seven miles of excellent mountain bike trails, bikers have the opportunity to climb terrain both up and downhill. Visitors in the Village will also be treated to great hiking trails with colorful wildflowers and abundant wildlife.
